The Story

After graduating with a degree in Design and Art, I initially found myself working as a kitchen designer. While I enjoyed the creative aspects of the job, it wasn’t long before my culinary interests drew me towards a different path. I moved to London and began working as a private chef for wealthy families, which eventually led me to specialize in the pastry section. This niche passion allowed me to work in Michelin-starred restaurants and 5-star hotels across the city, honing my skills in the art of pastry making.

In 2015, a business venture with a friend led to the creation of a raw cake studio on London Bridge, aptly named Verawnika—a playful twist on my real name, Veronika. This venture was a wonderful blend of creativity and entrepreneurship, but unfortunately, in 2019, rising rent costs forced us to close our beloved cake studio.

Here is when I created my instagram account Verawnikas for my pastry experiments.

Returning to the world of hotels, I took on the role of a pastry sous chef, leading a talented team in crafting modern desserts for à la carte menus, events, and even a charming little pastry shop in Covent Garden. However, when the hotel closed in 2020 due Covid 19, I found myself at a crossroads, yearning for a creative outlet.

During this downtime, I rediscovered my love for painting and began experimenting with new media and techniques, particularly resin and alcohol inks. This period of exploration led to the launch of a website where I sold many of my pieces through Instagram, reigniting my creative spirit.

After the pandemic, I decided to step away from the kitchen entirely and joined the Czech-Slovak Bohemia House restaurant as an event manager. For nearly two years, I thrived in this role, all while my art business simmered in the background.

At the start of 2024, I began to miss the hands-on creativity that had always driven me. This longing led me to experiment with polymer clay, sparking a new venture in crafting unique, handcrafted earrings.

Today, I am excited to bring this updated line of earrings to life, combining my love for art and design in every piece I create.
